Really??

Someone used the 'don't enrage me, engage me' article on Friday to try and explain why learning technologies are causing our children's learning problems. I was so cross, how can this be intelligently put forward when you consider the how and why you use something?. Don't blame the hardware, blame the headware.

Funny How We Do It Cause We Have No Choice

Microsoft’s founder has officially admitted that the puzzling Control-Alt-Delete key combination used to access the login screen was a mistake. In his speech at Harvard University, Bill Gates revealed that it was a mistake. This process was supposed to be performed with a single button.

Gates pointed out that this wasn’t entirely Microsoft’s fault. The matter was that the designer of the IBM keyboard refused to provide the software giant with a single button.

At the moment, Windows XP and Windows 7 still use this combination, while Windows 8 uses it as a shortcut for locking the computer or accessing the task manager.

My latest Google Doc Homework

Just thought I'd share the link to my latest Google Doc homework page.

Yeah its just the simple old book review, but I m having to beg the kids to only do one at this stage. Yep that's right, not beg the kids to do their homework. Quite to the contrary, to not do anymore at the moment. No this isn't the first time it's happened to a teacher, actually it's not the first time it has happened in my room. It is however another little tick to learning technologies making something much more engaging for a student. (not to mention the audience and the immediate feedback possibilities)

Next step is the reviews being posted on our class blog so parents and a wider audience can see, read and comment on the student work.

It's a far cry from a lined book in a desk drawer!

The Place To Find Out About iPad Apps For The Classroom

There are some great apps out there.
Finding them can be like looking for a needle in a haystack.

This blog is to give us a personal learning network where we as educators can:

  • Find great new apps
  • Learn about classic apps that we just shouldn't live without
  • Give feedback on apps
  • Discus how people are using iPads and apps in the classroom.

Get involved, be a part, start to comment and lets start moving forward together.
